Cambodia Gambling Halls
June 10th, 2023 by Valentin

There is an interesting story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, in which casino gaming is not legal. Eight gambling dens are established in a generally tiny area in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. This group of Cambodia casinos is in a perfect destination, a three to four hour travel from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 largest gambling centers in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a huge business with Thai workers and tourists from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital gained from the gambling dens ranges from 7.5 million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a few restrictions constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be mainly Thai; although, investment sources are ambiguous. The borders are officially open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are allegedly needed to cross, there are ways around this, as is true of many border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in 1998, leaving only 1 gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a stationary bateau gambling den, features 150 slot machines and 60 gaming tables. The Naga casino is open all day and night with forty two tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown before long opened. There are one hundred and fifty slots and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight gaming tables at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort features 300 slots and 70 gaming tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including 87 punto banco (the most beloved game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. One more of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an all-inclusive vacation and hotel complex that contains a number of amenities in addition to the casino, which has 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machine games and eighty eight gaming tables.
