There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling dens that lie just across the border from nearby Thailand, in which gambling den wagering is not permitted. Eight casinos are anchored in a relatively small location in the city of Poipet in Cambodia. The 1st Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in the late nineties, leaving just a single gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 slots and 66 of the common table games, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. An additional of the eight gambling dens in Poipet, again in a hotel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slot machines and ninety seven casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is part of an international vacation and hotel building that highlights many comforts aside from the gambling hall, which provides 10,000 sq.ft. of 130 slot machines and eighty eight gaming tables.
