Cambodia Gambling Halls

There is an interesting background to the Cambodia gambling halls that sit just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gaming is illegal. Eight gambling dens are situated in a relatively tiny location in the metropolis of Poipet in Cambodia. This collection of Cambodia gambling halls is in an excellent spot, a three to 4 hour drive from Bangkok and Macao, the two largest gambling locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling dens do a thriving business with Thai workers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with just a couple of Westerners. The phenomenal capital accrued from the gambling dens ranges from seven and a half million dollars to more than 12.5 million dollars, and there are a number of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; although, funding sources are vague. The borders are formally open from 9:00 a.m. to 17:00, and although visas are apparently necessary to cross, there are means around this, as is real of most border crossings.

The initial Cambodia gambling halls opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were required to close in the late nineties, leaving just 1 casino in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a docked ship gambling hall, highlights 150 slot machine games and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den is open all hours with 42 tables of mini-baccarat, four tables of blackjack, ten of roulette, two of Caribbean Stud Poker, and a single table each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.

The 1st gambling den in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in the late nineties and the Golden Crown quickly opened. There are 150 one armed bandits and five table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and sixty eight table games at the Holiday Palace. The latest Holiday Palace Casino and Resort highlights 300 one armed bandits and 70 tables and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has one hundred and sixty six slot machine games and 96 gaming tables, including 87 punto banco (the most popular game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. Additionally, there is the Casino Tropicana, with one hundred and thirty five slot machines and 66 of the familiar tables, as well as a single table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the eight casinos in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and 97 casino games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in an all-inclusive vacation and hotel building that highlights numerous comforts in addition to the casino, which provides ten thousand square feet of one hundred and thirty slot machines and eighty eight table games.
